Lashes are one of those things on women (and men) that I instantly notice and also one of those things I think make or break a look. To me, if you have long, thick, curved lashes and nothing else on you probably still look great! So you can only imagine how thrilled I was to learn that Too Faced was going to give me the opportunity to try out their Better Than False Lashes Lash Extension System! I kid with Hubs all the time about getting lash extensions, so this was definitely right up my alley.
At the top you can see the steps required to properly apply this lash extension system. Super easy!
I wasn't sure what to expect so when I opened the box and saw two tubes and read the descriptions for each step on the inner lid it all started to make sense ;)
As you can see, this is a 2-part system that has a primer/seal (left) and flexistretch(tm) nylon fiber extensions (right).
The primer/seal, which looks like black mascara, preps your lashes for the nylon fibers to cling to them, then locks them in and coats them a nice black.
Here are my sad, pathetic natural lashes. They actually look longer here than they are in real life. They are PATHETIC! I did a super natural eye so that you'd really be able to see the lashes. My lashes are 100% bare here, but curled.
Here's a view from the top of my lashes after I used the 3-step Too Faced lash extension system! You can already see a difference--or at least I can!
Here's a view of my eye open after I applied the Too Faced lash extension system. You can see my lashes!!! I only applied to the top by the way, I hadn't put mascara on my lower lashes yet.
1. Apply primer/seal as you would normal mascara
2. 1-2 coats of the nylon extension fibers - brush them on as you would mascara
3. Apply primer/seal over your lashes plus the extension fibers
This system is priced at $35 retail.
Where to Buy
This is being offered by Too Faced exclusively through Sephora until Fall 2012 HERE.
I am surprisingly impressed with this system! I honestly wasn't sure how I'd like it since so many mascaras bum me out, but since Too Faced has one of my favorite mascaras already (Deluxe Lash Injection which I combine with Maybelline Full 'N Soft) I was definitely hopeful they would surprise me--and they did! While I wouldn't say this leaves my pathetic lashes looking quite as impressive as a pair of falsies (though I do like somewhat dramatic falsies), this system is definitely a step up from any mascaras or combination of mascaras I've used in a very long time.
I was surprised by how easy it was to use this system. When I saw it had 2 parts, the first thing I thought was--is this going to be tricky? I worried the nylon fibers would get clumpy or the primer/seal would just gunk up over the fibers but this was so effortless for me, it was kind of nuts! Trust me, there is nothing I hate more than finicky mascara and this was nothing but simple when I used it. I have worn it a few times since and every time it's been super easy to use. This doesn't get crunchy and brittle after wearing it either. It isn't waterproof so keep that in mind.
The one tip I will give you when applying is that when you apply the nylon extension fibers start at the middle of your lash or tip of your lash, don't go root to tip. When I did root to tip application with the nylon fibers on my short lashes I got some of the nylon fibers in my eye and it drove me a little nuts for about half an hour. The second time I applied I started near the middle of my lashes and brushed up to the tip and didn't have this issue at all.
When I run out would I buy this again? I would! As long as it doesn't dry out or start giving me trouble I personally find it worth $35.
Would you be willing to try this lash extension system?
